This pattern is inspired by a traditional Maori weaving technique called Tukutuku. Designs consisit of intricate panels and symbols woven into wooden panels, made by women working together in pairs.
Tukutuku panels adorn the walls of meeting houses and are culturally significant representing Maori story telling and genealogy.
This particular pattern is inspired by a pattern called 'Porourangi Potama' which is deeply tied to where I grew up in Tikitiki, NZ.
It is a representation of knowledge , personal growth and ancestral lineage.
Made with 100% merino lambswool spun and dyed in the UK.
Handcrafted on a vintage knitting machine before being gently felted to create a soft and luxurious feel.
